Not everything needs to be added onto the wiki. Generally, you can categorize events into three different groups, which you can use to determine whether you should add it or not.
Impactful Lore
Events, NPCs, locations, etc. that have a large effect on the server's front-facing lore. These are things that your average, well-read adventurer (or even commoner) should know about the world.
Examples: Elemental Chaos, Xav's war against Lithosphere, Moon turning bloody, Sa'vara
- We expect all Impactful Lore items to be documented on the wiki in a timely manner. If you cannot (or don't want to) do it yourself, you must give permission for someone else to do it for you.
- You do not need to document every detail, just the front-facing ones. For instance, Elemental Chaos may be limited to its effects on Gharmidh (natural disasters) but doesn't have to include specifics about Maeril.
Behind the Scenes
Things that have a large effect, but would not be seen by the front-facing server. These may be known only by a select number of people, or perhaps have happened entirely off of Materia. This may also include "ancient lore" that you created as part of a quest or set-dressing.
Examples: Myth, The Efreeti/Djinni wars, Thunderhead Keep
- These do not need to be documented on the wiki. However, if you want to, you can add them. You should use your best discretion on these, as over-writing can also cause problems down the line. You can also be mysterious if you want!
- When it comes to sweeping and systemic background lore (for instance, City of Brass timekeeping system), you should be aware that these might be changed in the future for the sake of other DMs. Not everyone wants to be forced to learn a new metric system just to use the City of Brass, after all.
Minor Items
Things with a small effect in one way or another. They might be events that affected only one small town, or only had personal consequences for a PC.
Examples: Most small/one-off quests, some backstory quests
- Minor Items are not expected to be documented. In many cases, they probably should not be documented either, in order to help reduce bloat. You can use your discretion on this.
