The server has four major holidays that are spaced out roughly 3 IC months apart, one for each season of the year. To avoid holiday bloat, we alternate what holidays are officially celebrated (i.e. by announcements and events) and aim to run two holidays per IC year, ideally one festival and one ball. This means that we should run 4 holidays per OOC year.
Holidays are tracked by @Mod, but we encourage DMs to join in and run RP and other activities to breathe more life into these events! You can feel free to use Mark NPCs to encourage participation and run mini activities of your own.
During holidays, common areas in the Mark cannot be paused.

Bright is a week-long festival starting on the Summer Solstice. It is fun and recreational, celebrating the joys and highs of life, and often involves barbecue, sports, and firecrackers. At the end of the festival, a massive bonfire party is thrown at the Corvus beach. Friendly rivalries tend to be settled during the party by means of competition: eating contests, races, and team sports.
This holiday does not have an exact IRL analogue, but it is essentially the “beach episode”.

Corvus is hosting a volleyball tournament on the beach! Players can ask the DM to sign up in teams of X, and when the beach party begins, they will compete with each other and other NPCs for the title of champion! You could use simple Athletics checks or get creative and invent a mini-game for them to play.

Redtree is a holiday honoring the harvest and the passing of the past. Traditionally, Raven’s Mark holds a masquerade and costume party that is open to the public and includes feasting and grand music performances. On a smaller scale, Redtree is also observed through a lighting of candles ceremony that is believed to help ward off restless spirits.
