DMs running lore-related content operate on a priority based system. Priority is a measure of how and where lore is being used in the server’s current content - as such, all @DMs can have priority even if they are not a @Scrivener.

Priority System

You have priority on lore when you are actively using it in planning and writing quests. For instance, the following would give you priority:

Wanting to use lore in the nebulous future isn’t enough to confer priority. If your quest hasn’t started yet, you need to be able to demonstrate that you’re working on it actively (such as written plot ideas and discussion) as opposed to simply claiming that you’re going to use it “soon”.

Types of Priority

Priority is ranked on a three-level scale. There are no hard guidelines on what your quests fall under - it’s up to you to gauge what you need.

Legacy

If you have worked on lore in the past but are no longer doing so, you may still keep legacy status on that lore. You can maintain legacy even if you are no longer a @DM, so long as you are still on the staff team.

Having legacy in lore indicates that you have worked on it in the past and may be consulted for information, guidance, and other related questions. Legacy itself does not offer priority over any DMs who are actively working with the lore in question (although it’s expected that you afford legacy DMs respect when using their established content).

Managing Priority

Whenever you start a new questline that is using a public domain, you need to create a thread in #lore-hub that lists out what you are using and how you are using it. Title your post something descriptive, and be as specific as you can as to what's being used (e.g. "City of Brass" is better than "Plane of Fire").

There's no mandatory format for how you write your thread, as long as the necessary information is there. The purpose of this is to ensure that if a DM says they are using X, any other team member can look into the thread and understand the basics of what's going on without having to chase that DM down. If the information changes over the course of the quest, you should update the thread as appropriate.

You also need to set a priority level for your domain usage, by adding the appropriate tag. Once your thread is created, put a message in the pinned thread in#lore-hub so a @Mod can update the list.
