This is a new system designed to both replace and overhaul existing DM rewards. Its primary two goals are to provide more meaningful compensation for DMs, as well as better acknowledge other forms of staff work that were being ignored under the previous system. At the same time, we want to remain mindful not to turn the system into an elite benefit that tangibly excludes the general playerbase.

This system is current in BETA state! This means that information on here may be incomplete or subject to change.

Staff Points (SP) are points that you earn by performing staff duties. Your SP is tied to you yourself, not to a specific character, and there is no limit to the number of points you can have at any given time.
SP can be spent like currency. We will have a short list of things you can spend SP on, which should give us some flexibility with regards to tweaking the system. At a basic level, you will always be able to spend your points on XP and GP (which essentially replicates the functionality of the previous reward system).

As this is meant to replace the old system, you are no longer able to claim dmxp/dmgp. Instead, you will claim Staff Points!
If you DO NOT want to participate in the BETA, you may claim dmxp/dmgp as normal. Keep in mind that if you opt out this way, you cannot claim Staff Points for anything you run during the BETA.

The BETA will last approximately 3 months, ending December 31st.
At that time, we will review and adjust:
The main way to earn SP is by running content. Please note that throughout this section, a "day" of content is considered to be roughly 4 hours, which is similar to an IRL table session.
| Task | Reward Explanation | Reward Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Sheet Checking | Stamping a sheet | 0.5 SP |
| Initiation | Running a Jo initiation scene | 1 SP |
| Hunt or Graveyard | Any hunt or graveyard, 2-4 hours | 1 SP per day earned in this way |
| Scheduled, Formal Quests | Any scheduled formal quest. |
You gain 1 SP + 1 SP per day of quest.
E.g. a two day, scheduled quest is 1 SP (Base) + 2 SP (2 Days) = 3 SP reward. | 6 SP total per quest | | DM RP Scene (Day Long Scene) | Any DM initiated RP scene that grants rewards to player | 1 SP per day earned in this way |
<aside> đ
Why these numbers?
Thematically, 1 SP represents 1 day of content. Thus, a DM earns 1 SP when they provide 1 dayâs worth of content.
Hunts and day-long RP scenes are 1 day long, thus are worth 1 point each. Initiations are included despite their shorter length because DMs donât like doing them - this lets us reward those that do step up for the serverâs sake. To avoid âfarmingâ exploits, these rewards are limited to once per day each.
Quests give an additional bonus to represent the extra effort that goes into preparing a quest, valued at the same SP rate per day. This does mean that the âvalue per dayâ decreases marginally as the quest goes on, and this is somewhat intentional. Ideally, we want to encourage medium length quests as they are more accessible to players overall (huge quests tend to be filled with staff) and provide more quest opportunities overall.
For a similar reason, the SP cap on quests is reached after 5 days - enough for the vast majority of quests. This also represents a sort of soft upper bound for how long we expect a quest should be. If you are going 7-8 days, you should consider splitting it into two parts.

We as moderators also reserve the right to award SP for staff bookkeeping and other related, non-quest tasks. This might be wiki updates, sheet approval, loot checking, Avrae coding, etc. In other words, things that often go incomplete because DMs donât want to do them.
Because we donât have a way to measure this concretely, the mods reserve the right to award non-quest SP at our discretion. For example, we are planning on awarding 1 Staff Point for every two sheet stamps you check (non-scriv).
